Peering Through the Surface

Male great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) Monkey (#136) swims off the coast of Isla de Guadalupe, which can be seen through the water’s surface in the upper-right frame. The fish that is attached to Monkey's underside is a spearfish remora, which has a modified dorsal fin that can act like a suction cup to attach to larger marine animals.
